The Hammock Beach Ocean Course is a Jack Nicklaus designed course. It’s rated one of the top courses in Florida and among the top 100 courses to play in the United States. It offers the most oceanfront holes of any course in Florida with six holes played along the ocean. The last four holes are nicknamed the “Bear Claw” and are all played along the ocean. This course will take your breath away and if it’s a windy day along the Atlantic your golf ball also.
The course was built in 2000. It’s an 18-hole par 72 and is 7201 yards if played from the tips. They have five tees to play from so if you’re a hacker like me you can still enjoy the game. You must be staying at one of the Hammock Resort properties or be a member to play. It’s an extremely well managed course and play proceeds at a nice pace. A tip is to play early in the morning if possible as the winds tend to pick up in the afternoon. It has a rating of 77 and a slope of 147.
The course has hosted two PGA Championship Tour Events and a Ladies Publix Championship when Michelle Wie was champion. You can call the course directly at 866-502-6228
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, ASGCA, the Ocean Course opened in 2017. Troon Golf, LLC manages this facility, with Brad Hauer as the Director of Golf, PGA.
